About EGIDE

EGIDE is building Europe’s next defense champion. We design autonomous interceptor systems to counter emerging aerial threats, including kamikaze and loitering drones. Our mission goes beyond the interceptor itself: our command-and-control layer must coordinate simultaneous salvos, interpret ambiguous radar data in real time, and ensure every interceptor knows friend from foe.
This is a great place to do an internship: you’ll join a small, ambitious team in a fast-moving field, work hands-on on radar fusion, tracking and engagement logic, and get direct exposure to the full C2 chain, from algorithms and simulation to a live operator display.

About the internship

As part of pre-projects for future products and evolutions of existing systems, this internship focuses on the Command and Control (C2) challenge of radar-based localization, identification, and engagement matching during multi-interceptor operations.

In future scenarios, we will launch N interceptors at the same time against k targets. A single radar — with more to be added later — will detect a subset of targets and some potential targets. We need to automatically:

  • match radar detections with interceptor navigation data,

  • distinguish friends, foes, and unknowns,

  • maintain stable track identities,

  • assign interceptors to the correct targets.

Your mission will include:

  • Literature review: Explore existing solutions for track-to-track association, multi-hypothesis state estimation, radar types.

  • Simulation environment: Build a realistic simulation with interceptor and target trajectories, radar measurements.

  • Track-to-track association algorithm: Design and implement algorithms to fuse radar tracks with interceptor navigation reports.

  • Sensor bias online calibration: Develop methods to estimate and correct radar registration biases in real time.

  • Interceptor-to-target assignment matching: Use mission plans and fused tracks to determine which interceptor is engaging which target, and detect wrong targeting or possible fratricide.

  • C2 display prototype: Build a visual interface showing radar tracks, interceptor positions, friend/foe labels, confidence levels, and engagement lines. Include warnings when ID confidence is low or tracks are ambiguous.

You will work closely with our engineering team to bring your solutions from theory to practice. Your work will have a direct impact on the reliability of our future C2 systems.

You Are a Fit If
  • You are currently in the final year of an engineering degree or a specialized MSc program, with a focus on Applied Mathematics, Signal Processing, Data Fusion, Control Theory, or Computer.

  • You have basic knowledge of estimation theory (e.g. Kalman filters), tracking/matching algorithms, and simulation of autonomous systems.

  • You are proficient in Python or MATLAB/Simulink.

  • You are proactive, open-minded, and enjoy bridging software, sensor data, and operational requirements.

Why Join EGIDE as an Intern?
  • Build the future of European defense capability

  • Work on real systems that fly fast

  • Learn from experienced engineers in a small, ambitious team where your ideas are heard

  • Get direct exposure to the full chain: algorithms, simulation, integration and field testing

  • High-autonomy engineering culture: real responsibility from day one

  • Competitive compensation: 1500€/month, meal vouchers & 50% public transport reimbursement

  • A real path forward: strong performers may be offered a full-time position after the internship
