Job description

At RIMEX, we operate under one simple premise: provide our customers with the best products and services, period. Our teams combine engineering, manufacturing, technology, and field experience to deliver dependable solutions for demanding industrial environments. We are hiring a Full Stack Web Developer to join our Langley team and contribute to the continued development, reliability, and evolution of the TyreSense product line.

Position Summary

The Full Stack Web Developer designs, develops, tests, documents, deploys, and supports secure web applications and services used within the TyreSense ecosystem. The role works across front-end interfaces, server-side services, databases, APIs, integrations, real-time application functions, and development tooling. The successful candidate will translate operational and product requirements into reliable, maintainable software while working closely with software, DevOps, QA, support, product, data, and technical stakeholders.

This is a hands-on development role for someone who can contribute independently, collaborate effectively, investigate complex issues, improve existing systems, and help mature engineering practices without losing sight of customer and operational needs.

. Full Stack Application Development

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain responsive web applications across front-end, back-end, and data layers.
  • Build maintainable application components using C#, modern .NET technologies, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
  • Improve existing code responsibly through refactoring, reuse, modular design, and reduction of technical debt.
  • Translate approved requirements, workflows, and user needs into practical technical designs and working software.
  • Apply object-oriented design, dependency injection, separation of concerns, and appropriate software design patterns.

2. APIs, Integrations, and Real-Time Services

  • Design, build, document, consume, and maintain secure web services and APIs for approved product and business integrations.
  • Work with REST, JSON, authentication, authorization, versioning, validation, error handling, rate considerations, and API documentation.
  • Support real-time and event-driven application behaviours, including WebSocket-based communication where required.
  • Integrate with approved customer, fleet, asset, reporting, identity, and internal systems while protecting compatibility and data integrity.
  • Create clear interface contracts, integration tests, diagnostic logging, and technical documentation for supported integrations.

3. Data and Database Development

  • Design and maintain relational data models, queries, stored procedures where appropriate, migrations, and application data access.
  • Use Microsoft SQL Server and Entity Framework effectively, including performance-aware querying and transaction handling.
  • Investigate data-quality, synchronization, history, and performance issues using evidence and reproducible analysis.
  • Protect production data and follow approved practices for data access, masking, retention, backup awareness, and environment separation.
  • Support reporting and analytics requirements by producing reliable, well-defined application data outputs.

4. Software Quality and Testing

  • Write testable code and contribute unit, integration, API, regression, and end-to-end automated tests appropriate to the change.
  • Participate in code reviews, design reviews, defect triage, release readiness, and root-cause analysis.
  • Reproduce issues consistently, collect logs and evidence, identify contributing conditions, and verify fixes before release.
  • Work closely with QA and technical stakeholders to define acceptance criteria, test coverage, and validation evidence.
  • Prevent recurrence by improving tests, diagnostics, documentation, and engineering controls after significant defects.

5. Secure Development and Privacy

  • Apply secure coding practices throughout design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Implement appropriate authentication, authorization, least privilege, input validation, output encoding, secure session handling, and audit logging.
  • Do not place passwords, tokens, keys, certificates, or production connection details in source code or unsecured configuration.
  • Work with IT and Security to address dependency risk, vulnerability findings, identity requirements, logging, and approved security controls.
  • Report suspected vulnerabilities, exposed credentials, unauthorized access, or unexpected data exposure immediately and support remediation.

6. DevOps, Release, and Application Operations

  • Use approved source control, branch, merge request, code review, versioning, and release practices.
  • Contribute to continuous integration, automated build and test pipelines, repeatable deployment, configuration management, and rollback planning.
  • Support approved cloud-hosted, customer-hosted, and private deployment models without embedding customer-specific assumptions into core code.
  • Create operationally useful logging, health checks, metrics, diagnostics, and troubleshooting information.
  • Assist with controlled releases, production issue investigation, hotfix validation, release notes, and post-release monitoring.

7. Performance, Reliability, and Maintainability

  • Design for reliability, scalability, recoverability, and supportability appropriate to business and customer use.
  • Profile and improve application, API, database, browser, and real-time performance using evidence rather than assumption.
  • Handle failures gracefully through validation, timeouts, retries where appropriate, meaningful errors, and safe recovery behaviour.
  • Maintain backward compatibility where required and assess the impact of changes on supported environments and integrations.
  • Improve observability so software, support, and infrastructure teams can identify and resolve issues efficiently.

8. Product and Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work with product, software, QA, DevOps, support, data, IT, engineering, and operational stakeholders to clarify needs and priorities.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, technical estimation, sprint or release planning, demonstrations, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
  • Explain technical options, risks, dependencies, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Document decisions, assumptions, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and unresolved risks before implementation.
  • Provide technical input without making unapproved customer commitments, architecture decisions, or release promises.

9. Documentation and Knowledge Transfer

  • Maintain accurate technical designs, API documentation, configuration guidance, deployment notes, troubleshooting procedures, and release information.
  • Keep source code, packages, documentation, and configuration artifacts in approved RIMEX systems.
  • Share knowledge through walkthroughs, peer reviews, technical sessions, and practical support for other team members.
  • Reduce dependence on individual knowledge by documenting repeatable processes, known issues, and operational recovery steps.

10. Continuous Improvement and Responsible AI Use

  • Remain current with relevant web, .NET, database, security, testing, and software-engineering practices.
  • Recommend improvements based on product value, customer impact, risk, maintainability, and measurable engineering benefit.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve productivity, testing, documentation, and code understanding.
  • Validate all AI-generated code and content; never expose confidential, customer, credential, production, or proprietary information to unapproved tools.
  • Contribute to practical modernization while maintaining stability and support for existing customers and deployments.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum five years of professional experience developing and supporting production web applications; equivalent depth of practical experience may be considered.
  • Strong C# and modern .NET development experience, including ASP.NET Core web applications and APIs.
  • Strong TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3 skills, with experience building responsive and accessible user interfaces.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, relational database design, query optimization, and Entity Framework or a comparable ORM.
  • Experience designing and integrating REST APIs and working with real-time web communication or event-driven patterns.
  • Experience with source control, peer review, automated testing, CI/CD, and structured software release practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting production applications across browser, application, service, database, integration, and hosting layers.
  • Working knowledge of application security, identity, authorization, secrets handling, dependency management, and secure SDLC practices.
  • Experience with Telerik Kendo UI, jQuery, enterprise UI libraries, or modernization of legacy web interfaces is an asset.
  • Experience with Azure or comparable cloud services, IIS, containers, observability tooling, or hybrid deployment environments is an asset.
  • Experience with industrial, IoT, telemetry, fleet, asset-management, manufacturing, or safety-related applications is an asset.
  • Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot is an asset, provided they are used within approved security and data-governance requirements.
  • Post-secondary education in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Clear spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
