You’ve been applying to remote jobs on FlexJobs for weeks. Thirty applications, one resume, and not a single interview. You start to wonder if the jobs are real.
They probably are. FlexJobs checks every listing for scams, and that part works. The problem is usually what you send. FlexJobs helps you find flexible jobs, but it gives you nothing to make your resume fit them. On Reddit, “I never got hired from it” is one of the most common things people say about the site (HAIRED, 2026).
JobUnlocked covers both halves. It lists 6 million+ jobs from 300,000+ company websites, and from any job it tailors your resume to what that job asks for. Here’s how the two compare.
Quick answer
Use JobUnlocked if you want more interviews: a bigger choice of jobs in every field, and a resume tailored to each one. Use FlexJobs if you mainly want a hand-checked list of freelance, temporary or flexible-schedule work.
FlexJobs’ biggest problems
Applications that go nowhere
Remote and flexible jobs attract applicants from everywhere, so recruiters skim. A resume that doesn’t speak to the job gets passed over, however good you are. That’s the story behind most “no interviews” complaints about FlexJobs, and the site doesn’t address it.
No resume builder of its own
FlexJobs’ footer has an “Online Resume Builder” link, but it opens MyPerfectResume, a separate website. On FlexJobs itself there’s nowhere to write your resume, check it or shape it for a job. So most people send the same resume to every listing.
FlexJobs does have an AI tool, ExpertApply, that fills in application forms “based on your profile” (FlexJobs). It speeds up the form, but your resume stays the same. And hiring teams are already tired of generic applications: in a Robert Half survey of more than 2,000 US hiring managers, 67% said reviewing AI-generated applications has slowed hiring (Robert Half, 2026).
A smaller choice of jobs
FlexJobs lists more than 240,000 jobs (FlexJobs), all of them flexible in some way: remote, hybrid, part-time, freelance or with an unusual schedule. That’s a deliberate choice, but it leaves out most of the job market, including on-site and regular full-time roles. Reddit users also say entry-level work in writing, data entry and admin is thin (HAIRED, 2026).
Old and closed listings
Recent Trustpilot reviews describe listings that lead to “Page not found” or “Job no longer available”, and postings more than two weeks old (Trustpilot). Applying to a job that already closed is time you don’t get back.
Search that feels dated
Reviewers point out that you can’t filter by salary or sort saved searches by date (Trustpilot), and some long-time users say the site has become harder to use (HAIRED, 2026).
How JobUnlocked fixes each problem
| FlexJobs problem | What JobUnlocked does |
|---|---|
| Applications that go nowhere | Tailors your resume to each job, then scores it before you apply |
| No resume builder of its own | A resume builder built in, with 16 templates |
| A smaller choice of jobs | 6 million+ jobs from 300,000+ company websites, in every field and at every level |
| Old and closed listings | Checks company websites every day; filter to jobs posted today |
| Search that feels dated | Filters for pay listed, hourly pay, shifts, benefits, no degree needed, experience level and more |
A resume written for each job
This is the biggest difference. From any JobUnlocked job, you can create a resume tailored to it. The builder shows what the job asks for and rewrites your resume around it. Then it checks every rewritten line against your original and reverts any line that adds a tool, skill, number or duty you didn’t list, so you can back up everything in an interview.
You don’t need a resume to start. Answer a few AI questions, upload a PDF or paste your text.
A score before you send
The resume check grades your resume out of 100 on content, format, optimization and best practices, and gives you “Fix it for me” buttons for each issue. Pick from 16 single-column templates, such as Jake and Stack for software engineers, Clinical for nurses, Frontline for shift work and Closer for sales. The PDF is text-based, so the hiring software companies use can read it cleanly.
More jobs in every field
JobUnlocked checks 300,000+ company websites every day and lists 6 million+ open jobs, from remote customer service and part-time remote work to remote software engineering and on-site jobs near you. Every job links to the company’s own posting, where you apply.
Filters that match how you work
Choose remote, hybrid or on-site, full-time or part-time, a shift, jobs that list pay or hourly pay, benefits, experience level, or jobs that don’t need a degree. Save a search and get a daily email when new jobs match.

Where FlexJobs still helps
FlexJobs has people check every listing, and it rejects commission-only and multilevel marketing jobs (How FlexJobs Works). That matters most for work-from-home roles where scams are common. If you mostly want freelance, temporary or alternative-schedule work, its labels for those are clear. It also runs career webinars and events.
Which should you use?
- “I’m a software engineer.” Search remote software engineer jobs on JobUnlocked, tailor your resume with the Jake or Stack template and apply the day a job appears.
- “I want remote customer service or admin work.” These roles get the most applicants. Filter JobUnlocked to remote and part-time, and tailor every resume you send.
- “I’ve been applying for weeks and hearing nothing.” Change what you send. Pick five jobs, tailor a resume to each and run the resume check before you apply.
- “I only want freelance or temporary gigs.” FlexJobs is built around that kind of work.
How to apply so you actually hear back
- Save one search on JobUnlocked with your title, remote or your city, and posted in the last day.
- Pick fewer jobs. Five that fit beat fifty that don’t.
- Tailor your resume to each one from the job page, then fix what the resume check flags. Our ATS-friendly resume guide covers the format.
- Apply on the company’s own posting while the job is new.

Bottom line: FlexJobs is good at finding safe, flexible jobs, but it leaves the hardest part, your resume, to you. JobUnlocked gives you far more jobs and a resume written for each one: find a job on JobUnlocked, tailor your resume to it and apply.
