Security Design & Engineering Lead

What you'll do

As the Security & Design Engineering Lead you will own security system design for Giga Energy sites and authors the complete security design package: basis of design (BoD), construction drawings, schedules, typical and wiring details, one-line diagrams, and Division 28 specifications. Sets the design standard that every site is built to, and reviews integrator and contractor drawings against it. Coordinates with the architectural, civil, electrical, telecommunications, structural, mechanical, fire alarm, plumbing, and landscape disciplines so security design is complete and fits each site as it is built or retrofitted.

Responsibilities

• 3-6+ years of experience

• Author complete security design packages for new builds and retrofits: site and floor plans, camera and access control layouts, device, door, alarm, and camera schedules, typical and wiring details, rack elevations, and one-line and connection diagrams

• Draft basis of design (BoD) documents and write Division 28 specifications

• Design access control wiring and interlocks, including anti-passback, anti-tailgate, turnstile, overhead door, and gate integration

• Prepare power and environmental calculations, and document network, fiber, and storage requirements for IP-based security devices

• Coordinate design with the architectural, civil, electrical, telecommunications, structural, mechanical, fire alarm, plumbing, and landscape disciplines, including network and fiber pathways with telecom

• Build and maintain Giga Energy's security design standard and facility-type templates (office, factory, data center), with Milestone and Gallagher as our standard platforms

• Adapt designs to customer and tenant security requirements on leased data center sites, including other VMS and access control platforms and customer-specific standards

• Review and mark up integrator and contractor submittals and shop drawings, including in Bluebeam Revu

• Apply CPTED principles and site risk context to design decisions

• Hand off approved designs to implementation and commissioning with complete documentation

Requirements

• Hands-on experience designing physical security systems (video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection)

• Has authored complete security construction document sets (plans, schedules, typical and wiring details, one-line diagrams, rack elevations) and written Division 28 specifications

• CAD proficiency (AutoCAD or equivalent) and ability to produce construction-grade drawings

• Ability to read and mark up construction drawings and specifications

• Experience coordinating security design with other design disciplines and trades

• Working knowledge of IP networking as it applies to security devices (PoE, VLANs, fiber, bandwidth, storage)

Bonus points

• Experience designing for data center environments, including colocation entry points, equipment rooms, and fiber backbones

• Experience designing across multiple enterprise VMS and access control platforms (Milestone and Gallagher a plus)

• Experience in industrial or energy environments

• Revit or BIM experience; Bluebeam Revu proficiency

• PSP, RCDD, or comparable certification
